Critics tore it up, but I loved it. I mean Sharon Stone was simply amazing in the movie. But here were the 'take homes' I was left with:
What hope some people represent and yet they are taken so soon.
Bobby - he met with black leaders and poor Appalachian people, spoke with (not to) them, and was loved.
Princess Diana - held people with AIDS at a time when fear and ignorance reigned. Though, I argue they still do today.

But most of all I was left thinking how I viewed the assassinations of JFK, Bobby, MLK, et al as these public events when they were actually intensely personal moments for their families and friends. I mean how crass is it that somehow I lost that these were people just like me, except that their lives are our entertainment and their deaths are for public display. Much akin to the 9-11 tragedy when families request that we stop showing the planes slamming into buildings, though all these events incorporate a public mourning with grief and sympathy, there can truly not be empathy since most people simply have not experienced similar loss.

So, yeah critics, maybe the movie wasn't what you felt it should be, but for me it was all the thoughts that went through my mind about themes in the movie ( and just to reiterate, I liked the performances as well for what it is worth ).

So I leave with this, who is our Bobby today? Who is uniting all voices, holding the dying, preaching peace and love?
